HANOI – The Vietnamese Politburo has approved a decision to distribute a cash gift of 100,000 Vietnamese Dong (VND) to each of the country’s approximately 100 million citizens, totaling an estimated 10 trillion VND. This initiative marks the upcoming 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has instructed the Ministry of Finance and the State Bank to ensure the timely and accurate distribution of funds, either through bank transfers or direct cash payments, by September 2nd. The directive emphasizes avoiding omissions or duplications, with the State Bank also tasked with guaranteeing the smooth operation of the payment system.
These significant anniversaries commemorate the victory of the August Revolution in 1945, which led to Vietnam’s liberation from colonial rule, and the subsequent declaration of independence by President Ho Chi Minh on September 2nd, 1945, establishing the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. To further celebrate the occasion, Vietnam is preparing for a large-scale military parade and procession on September 2nd, which will feature six main contingents, including honor guards, armed forces formations, and military equipment displays, comprising 43 armed forces formations and 12 mass parade formations.
