US Urges EU to Cut Russian Gas for New Sanctions

The United States is urging the European Union to cease its reliance on Russian oil and gas, proposing that the EU instead purchase energy resources from the US. According to US Energy Secretary Chris Wright, such a move would not only significantly weaken Russia’s war financing but also align with a trade agreement for the EU to acquire $750 billion in American energy by 2028.

Wright emphasized that an end to Russian energy imports would prompt the US to implement a more robust package of sanctions against Moscow.
