Gambia Busts Major Transnational Online Scam, Arrests 60 Chinese and Vietnamese Suspects

Gambia’s police recently busted a major transnational online scam operation in Tujereng, near the capital, arresting 60 Chinese and Vietnamese nationals.

The suspects, who had been renting two luxury beachfront apartments—one owned by the President’s National Security Advisor and another by a prominent businessman—were involved in cryptocurrency investment and overseas recruitment fraud targeting global victims via social media.

The raid, prompted by a security guard being poisoned after attempting to expose their activities, led to the seizure of numerous computers, phones, and network devices, revealing a sophisticated network. Gambian authorities have contacted Interpol for assistance in this case, deemed the country’s largest cyber fraud incident recently.
